Phillips 66 drew up the latest play in its sponsorship strategy that aims to engage fans and energize lives, collaborating with its third professional football franchise in the Houston Texans.
The deal is another way the company is strategically leveraging sponsorships to enhance its brand visibility in key markets. The latest announcement adds to the company’s roster of gridiron agreements that include the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos.
“Collaborating with these respected organizations integrates our brand with consumer passion points,” said Phillips 66 Brand Manager John Field. “These sponsorships reflect our commitment to these areas and create a positive association with Phillips 66. With a large presence in these markets, especially in Houston, we aim to engage authentically with local consumers.”
As part of the Texans agreement, Phillips 66 secured naming rights to the NRG Stadium Southeast Gate and is fueling the team’s mascot vehicle for community engagements. Additionally, a game day activation allows fans to create sports cards of themselves, promoting the Phillips 66 Fuel Forward™ App.
Phillips 66’s work with the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos has seen similar activations at a time when new company developments have unfolded in both regions.
In addition to the many branded sites in the Seattle and Denver areas, Phillips 66 commissioned charging stations in Washington in late 2023 and Colorado in early 2024 with the first 76®- and Conoco®-branded chargers, respectively.
“This sponsorship strategy is not just about logo placement,” said Field. “It showcases our dedication to providing energy and improving lives while enhancing our brand presence. We’re proud to be a part of the game day experience and look forward to providing great life experiences through affordable, reliable energy.”
